After raising £10,000 in aid of the Claire P
eacock Foundation in 2016 which raises money for the NSPCC, I swore it would be my first and last London Marathon. But here I am running again in 2017 and I’m determined to beat my time of just under 6 hours. I also want to break that £20,000 barrier to provide the Claire Peacock Foundation and the NSPCC the money they need to carry on the great work they do to protect vulnerable children. So I’m going to host a Silent Disco to get to that target.
Claire Peacock my partner, one of her many legacies was to save vulnerable children from what she used to say were vulnerable parents, and carrying on raising money for the foundation is my way of continuing those legacies. Despite all the best efforts of these incredible causes, we still live in a society where our children are vulnerable to abuse. The perfect example of this has been the recent challenges raised in football, as a number of ex-players broke the silence of historical abuse. Childline had to create a call centre in a response to these shocking revelations and to support other people who also came forward. This is where the Claire Peacock Foundation comes in, money is always needed to support these issues and I want to make sure the money is there to continue that legacy. That’s why I’ll be putting my body through the pain on the 23rd April.
So in support of me tackling those 26 miles again, I am hosting a Silent Disco at the Angel On The Bridge in Henley-On-Thames on Saturday the 1st of April. Kindly supported by Mark Dunlop at the Angel and Mike McTeague of Lulu Marquees who has kindly donated a heated marquee to put up on the River Terrace. This Iconic venue will play host to a great evening of fundraising, with 3 DJs fighting it out over 3 different channels for your attention and adulation. Henley has an amazing spirit of supporting fundraising as I saw last year, and this event perfectly encapsulates that spirit perfectly. This will be a wonderful evening of music and fun all for a vitally important cause. Tickets can be purchased in advance here
